FEATURES OF AVLS:

  • The vehicles are fitted with a GPS Receiver.
  • The updates from vehicles also have speed at which a vehicle is traveling.
  • Digitized Map is installed in the computers of all Control Rooms in order to enable them to identify the nearest vehicle to the scene of occurrence.
  • Helps in Monitoring the Movement of the Patrol vehicles.
  • It can also provide you with History in case you need to know where the vehicle was on any given day and time.
  • Vehicles can be polled in different flexible ways.
  • Vehicles search in map.
  • Display of vehicles for either the entire fleet or by zone.
  • Location search and search with respect to land marks and building names.
  • Automatic Pop-up of a location on the map.


OPERATION OF AUTOMATIC VEHICLE LOCATION SYSTEM:

  • 52 Patrol vans are fitted with Mobile Unit (with GPS antenna & receiver)
  • TK980 Radios are installed and interfaced with the Mobile Unit for online updating to Control Room.
  • An Intel Xeon server is installed with AVLS Server software in Modern Control Room.
  • 5 clients ( Call Centre Supervisor, Central Control, South Control, North Control & Traffic Control) are installed with AVLS Client software with GIS Viewer. All connected in LAN with the AVLS Server.
  • Two UHF frequencies ( 753MHz & 788 KHz ) are used to get online updates from the 52 Patrol vans, divided into two zones ( One frequency for each zone). One Base Station Unit & One TK 980 Radio for each zone are installed and interfaced with the AVLS Server.
  • Polling is done by the server to get the updates from each vehicle at an interval of 1 minute. Emergency Polling, Specified Polling & Foreign fleet polling are different ways to poll the fleet.
  • Updates from the patrol van contains location of vehicle, speed of vehicle date & time of the data
  • The received updates are plotted on the digital map of Chennai along with the direction in which the vehicle is moving.
  • When a distress call is despatched from the call taker to the respective control, an automatic pop-up of the address appears on the map along with the nearest available patrol van or the dispatcher to identify and take necessary action.
  • Other important features include History of the Vehicle, Location search in Map, Different coloured icons for each control, vehicle search, multimedia alarm for panic situations and Over speeding, stoppage report, fuel consumption etc.,
